So much more than coding

While learning to code is fun, our children are also developing a huge array of personal and interpersonal skills

PROBLEM-SOLVING

Children deconstruct a problem, then design and create an algorithm to solve that problem.

COMMUNICATION & COLLABORATION

Children often work together on project-based activities.

RESILIENCE

Coding develops perseverance and a growth mind-set - when something goes wrong, debug and try again.

CODING FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN

We initially use a variety of game-based coding platforms for our younger children (aged 5-7). The initial focus is on developing the main computing concepts - sequence, selection and repetition in a fun and challenging environment. While children are engrossed in the challenges of gaming at this level, they are unaware that they are developing some serious problem-solving and logical thinking skills.

LEGO ROBOTICS

Children love our Lego Robotics kits. Using the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ App pupils will experience intuitive coding. Pupils can progress all the way from lower to upper primary following a progression of block-based coding from icon blocks to word blocks based on Scratch. This provides age and skill appropriate tools for developing their coding proficiency.

We also make use of Botzees robots for younger children and Micro:Bit mini computers for children aged 7+.

CODING FOR OLDER CHILDREN

AGE 8+

Minecraft coding Roblox coding, Python, Unreal Engine, Blender (for animation), HTML/CSS/JavaScript - we have a multitude of coding languages and platforms, many of which are introduced at our Easter and Summer Camps. Now piloting Minecraft Education eSports Coding Tournaments.
